Kativasthi

Kativasthi is an Ayurvedic therapy where warm medicated oil is applied to the lower back to relieve pain and stiffness, promoting spinal health and flexibility.

The term Kati refers to the lower back and Vasthi means to hold or retain. Thus, Kati Vasthi is an Ayurvedic therapy that focuses on the lower back region by retaining warm medicated oil over it.

This traditional treatment is primarily used to relieve lower back problems such as chronic pain, stiffness, muscle spasms, and sciatica. During the procedure, a reservoir made of black gram dough is created around the lumbar region, and warm medicated oil is gently poured into it. The oil is retained for about 30 to 45 minutes, allowing its therapeutic properties to penetrate deep into the tissues.

The warmth and medicinal potency of the oil help lubricate the joints, nourish the muscles, and promote relaxation. Kati Vasti is especially effective in managing conditions like lumbar spondylitis, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, and sciatica.

This rejuvenating therapy not only alleviates discomfort but also enhances spinal flexibility, relieves tension, and supports overall well-being of the lower back.
