Pizhichil, also known as Sarvangadhara, is a traditional Kerala Ayurvedic therapy that combines the healing effects of oil massage (Snehana) and sudation (Swedana). In this procedure, warm medicated oil is continuously poured over the body while a gentle, synchronized Ayurvedic massage is performed.
The term Pizhichil literally means “squeezing,” referring to the process where warm oil is squeezed from linen cloths onto the body of the patient lying on a traditional wooden plank. This unique combination of warmth and herbal oils deeply nourishes the body, relieves stiffness, and enhances neuromuscular strength.
