Ghreeva Vasthi
Greeva Vasthi is a traditional Ayurvedic treatment where warm medicated oil is retained on the neck area to relieve stiffness, pain, and cervical-related issues.
Greeva Vasthi is a specialized Ayurvedic therapy focused on the cervical (neck) region. It is highly effective in managing various musculoskeletal and neurological disorders such as neck pain and stiffness, cervical spondylitis, disc bulge, ankylosing spondylitis, and related conditions.
The term “Greeva” refers to the neck region, while “Vasthi” means “to hold or retain.” In this procedure, warm medicated oil is retained over the cervical area within a boundary made from black gram dough. The therapy is performed by one or two trained Ayurvedic therapists under the supervision of a qualified Ayurvedic physician, using medicated oils prescribed according to the individual’s condition and body constitution (Prakriti).
The gentle warmth and therapeutic action of the oil help nourish and lubricate the cervical joints, relieve muscle stiffness, and improve flexibility. It also enhances blood circulation to the neck and shoulder area, easing pain and supporting overall spinal health.
